Supreme Court Upholds Solomon Amendment
Posted by admin on Mar 7, 2006
The U.S. Supreme Court unanimously upheld the Solomon Amendment which
requires higher education institutions that receive federal funds to
provide access and administrative support to military recruiters as
part of the schools’ career services activities. A number of law
schools had challenged the law, claiming that the military’s “Don’t
Ask, Don’t Tell” policy conflicted with their ban on access for
employers with discriminatory hiring practices. The full text of the
opinion is available on the court’s website: Rumsfeld v. FAIR.
