Harriet Miers Withdraws Nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court

White House Counsel, Harriet Miers, has withdrawn herself from
consideration for the U.S. Supreme Court. Ms. Miers was nominated to
replace retiring Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. Sentate hearings on the
nomination were expected to begin November 7th. Justice O’Connor has
said that she will remain on the U.S. Supreme Court until her
replacement is confirmed.
