Acting Co-Directors appointed

A search for a new library director will be conducted once our new law
school Dean is chosen. In the interim, Patricia Fox, formerly Associate
Director on the Harrisburg Campus, and Mary K. Marzolla, formerly Head
of Public Services on the Delaware campus, have been appointed Acting
Co-Directors of the Legal Information Center. Pat has been with Widener
since 1994 and received her B.A. from Glassboro State College; her M.S.
in Library Science from Drexel University; and her J.D. from the
Dickinson School of Law. Mary has been with Widener since 1990 and
received her both her B.A. and M.S.L.S. from Villanova University; and
her J.D. from Widener University School of Law. Pat can be

Library Director Retires

Professor Eileen B. Cooper, Director of the Legal Information Center is
retiring effective Wednesday, August 31st after more than 26 years of service to the
University. Professor Cooper is a graduate of one of the earliest law school
classes when Widener was known as the Delaware law School of Widener College
in 1976. Friends and colleague gathered in the Library on Thursday evening,
August 25th to thank Professor Cooper for her many years of outstanding
service to the University. She will be missed a great deal. Stop by the Legal
Information Center to see a display of photographs honoring Professor Cooper.
Library Book Club to meet in October

Please join us from noon to one p.m. on TUES. OCT. 25 for the next meeting of
the Widener Law Library Brown Bag Book Club. We will meet in the Special
Collections room of the Delaware Campus Library.
We will be discussing RIVER TOWN: TWO YEARS ON THE YANGTZE by Peter Hessler.

This book is an account of the author’s experiences and observations on two years in the Peace Corps in a small town on the Yangtze river. The town was located in an area which was scheduled to be flooded in the construction of the Three Gorges Dam.

Have You Been Through Changes this Summer?

All students who have transferred from another law school (including from Widenerís Harrisburg campus), must contact the reference desk (ext. 2114) or contact Mary Alice Peeling, CALR Librarian, to obtain new Westlaw and Lexis IDs. Ms. Peeling may be reached at (302)477-2115 or via email at mpeeling@widener.edu
This also holds true for a student whose name or graduation date has changed since last year. Contact Mary Alice Peeling to have your Lexis and Westlaw IDs updated or you could lose access to these important research tools.

Yes, itís true! Widenerís law students can get U.S. Law Week sent to them by email for FREE! U.S. Law Week is a weekly summary and analysis of current law, including the full text of U.S. Supreme Court decisions. Attorneys pay more than $1000 annually for this same service.
